Comparison
Temari and eSchool.et, side by side
Both are cloud platforms built for Ethiopian schools. The differences that matter are who pays, what the students get, and what happens on the day the bureau asks for its roster.
What eSchool.et is
eSchool.et describes itself as Ethiopia's cloud based school management platform. Its site lists admissions and student information, fee and payment records, attendance, academics, exams and grading, payroll and staff workflows, mobile applications for parents, teachers and students, and managed cloud hosting with onboarding, data migration and support.
It publishes its prices openly, which deserves credit: a per student and a per staff yearly fee that fall as the school grows, plus a one time setup fee.
The two platforms, from their own pages
eSchool.et
ETB 150 to 250 per student and ETB 250 to 350 per staff member each year, by school size, plus a setup fee of ETB 150,000 to 250,000.
Temari
Nothing for the core platform. Parents pay 200 ETB per student per year at registration, and staff accounts cost the school nothing.
eSchool.et
Setup, managed hosting, training, data migration and support are included with the setup fee.
Temari
A new school runs a full semester before paying anything, and the team moves your existing records in.
eSchool.et
Admissions, student information, fees and payments, attendance, academics and exams, payroll, and mobile apps for parents, teachers and students.
Temari
All of those, plus timetables the platform draws itself, lesson plans in the Ministry format, inventory and textbook lending, and leave built on the Labour Proclamation.
eSchool.et
Exams, grading and result publishing are listed. A bureau format government roster is not mentioned on eschool.et.
Temari
Report cards freeze when a term closes, and the government roster prints in the bureau's own format with every total recomputed from the printed numbers.
eSchool.et
Not listed on eschool.et.
Temari
Free Grade 6, 8 and 12 national exam practice comes with the platform, including past papers with worked explanations.
eSchool.et
Not listed on eschool.et.
Temari
Temari AI answers each role from the school's own data, on the optional School Plan.
eSchool.et
Managed cloud hosting is listed.
Temari
The installable app keeps attendance and mark entry working through connection drops and saves them when the network returns.

Who carries the software cost
On eSchool.et's published model, the school pays: a yearly fee per student, a yearly fee per staff member, and a setup fee that starts at 150,000 birr. For a school of 600 students and 40 staff on their Growth tier, that is 120,000 birr per year for students, 12,000 birr for staff, and 200,000 birr once to begin.
Temari turned the model around. The core platform is paid by each family at 200 ETB per student per year, collected at registration the way schools already collect registration items, so the school itself carries no software line in its budget. The optional School Plan, at 10 ETB per student per month, adds automated payment verification, electronic receipts and School AI, and the school decides each year whether it is worth it.
The platform follows the student home
A school management system ends at the school gate. Temari keeps going: the same account that shows a parent the morning's attendance gives the student free national exam practice, chapter notes that follow the national textbooks, and mock exams with instant scoring and worked explanations.
That matters for the school too. When the reason families keep asking for the app is their own child's studying, the school's messages, invoices and report cards arrive on a channel families already open.
Built around the bureau's paperwork
Ethiopian schools answer to an education bureau, and the bureau has formats. Temari prints the government roster in that format, collapses quarters into semesters the way the bureau expects, recomputes totals and ranks from the printed numbers so the sheet is arithmetically self consistent, and prints both calendars on official documents. Every receipt, transcript and report card carries a QR code that proves it is real without exposing marks or money.

Is Temari a full replacement for eSchool.et?
The modules eSchool.et lists on its site, admissions, fees, attendance, exams, payroll and family apps, are all covered, alongside timetabling, lesson planning, inventory and the government roster. A demo walks your own workflows through it.
What does switching cost?
There is no setup fee. A new school runs a full semester before paying anything, and the team imports your student records, so the cost of trying it is the time it takes to look.
What do families pay?
200 ETB per student per year for the core platform, collected at registration. Exam practice for Grades 6, 8 and 12 is free with any account, and the AI study upgrade at 199 ETB per month is optional.
Do parents need smartphones?
The important messages, absences, fee notices and results announcements, go out as SMS in the language each family reads. A parent with a basic phone misses nothing that matters.
