Report cards a school can stand behind

Ethiopian schools have strong opinions about when families see results, and they are right to: report-card day is when parents come to the school, meet the homeroom teacher, and settle accounts. Temari treats release as explicit school policy with three modes. Open mode publishes digitally the moment the term closes. Scheduled mode publishes on a date the school picks. Collect mode, which many schools asked for, holds the digital copy until the office marks the paper card as physically handed over.

Two further switches sharpen the policy: rank can be hidden from the family portal (the meeting number, revealed in person), and release can require fee clearance, mirroring the paper practice of "no card until the account is settled". None of it affects staff, since teachers and leadership always see everything, and terms of completed years are always released, so history and transcripts survive any policy change.

Whatever the mode, a locked result is never a blank screen: the family sees the term exists and exactly why it is not open yet: "collect at the school", "publishing on Tir 5". That turns confusion at the gate into a clear instruction.

Every Ethiopian school files rosters with its education bureau, and the bureau's format is not the school's internal one: quarters collapse into semesters, some subjects are excluded, and marks may need rounding. The dangerous shortcut is editing a copy of the internal sheet by hand, which is how schools end up submitting rosters whose printed totals do not match their own printed columns.

Temari generates the government copy as a transformation of the frozen results: collapse, round and filter per the school's bureau settings, then recompute every total, average and rank from the transformed numbers themselves. The sheet the bureau receives is arithmetically self-consistent, with its own columns adding up to its own totals, because it was computed that way rather than copied and adjusted.

Printing is calibrated for the bureau's physical record books: schools that must write into pre-printed government booklets can print overlay pages measured to the millimetre, per printer, so the numbers land in the boxes.

A transcript is the document with the longest life and the highest stakes, because it follows the student to university and employment. Temari assembles the Ethiopian year-grid transcript automatically from every frozen semester on record, in the layout registrars and universities recognise, with both Ethiopian and Gregorian dates printed on official copies.

The same pipeline issues transfer letters, withdrawal letters and certificates, each generated from the records rather than typed fresh, so the letter's facts (dates, grades, clearance) are the system's facts. Bulk generation names files after what they hold: a section's report cards arrive as one PDF named for the class, ready for printing night.

Every document carries a QR that resolves to a public verification page proving the school issued it, without exposing marks, fees or any personal data to the person scanning. If a document must be withdrawn, revoking kills the QR while the school's internal history stays intact.
