When the Ministry read out the four highest results on 22 August, it named no one. Every one of them now has a name and a photograph, published deliberately by the schools and the channel. A fifth result, never read out at the briefing, has changed the order of the year.
The five, with their scores
Robel Getachew's 590.08 was not among the four results the Ministry read out. It sits above Hidase Zemenu's 583, which had been reported a day earlier as the second-highest of all candidates. The fuller figures the channel published alongside the names also sharpen two briefing numbers: the 576.2 in social science is 576.25, and the 569.1 is 569.17. The four briefing results themselves are in the highest Grade 12 scores of 2018 E.C..
The schools announcing a clean sheet
Ten of those schools spent 26 August saying so publicly, most of them university-run special secondary schools. Their announcements, with what each one reported:
